Dr. Bhawna Sirohi, MBBS, FRCP
Medical Oncologist, researcher, educator and cancer advocate with over three decades of experience across India and the United Kingdom.
Dr. Bhawna Sirohi (MBBS, FRCP) is a Consultant Medical Oncologist specialising in gastrointestinal and breast cancers. She qualified MBBS in 1991, ranking first in aggregate across all three MBBS examinations, with distinctions and gold medals in Anatomy and Obstetrics & Gynaecology. She completed her training in Medical Oncology at the Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, and went on to build an international career spanning India and the United Kingdom.
In the UK she trained and worked at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Addenbrooke's Hospital Cambridge, Guy's and St Thomas', and later served as a Consultant Medical Oncologist at Barts Health NHS Trust and in private practice at Leaders in Oncology Care (HCA). She holds the Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration in Medical Oncology on the UK GMC Specialist Register and was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians, London (FRCP) in 2015.
In India she has led medical oncology services at the Tata Memorial Centre, Artemis Cancer Centre, Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Centre (Narayana Health), Max Healthcare, and Apollo Proton Cancer Centre, Chennai. Since August 2022 she is Medical Director and Consultant Medical Oncologist (GI & Breast Cancers) at the Vedanta Medical Research Foundation – Balco Medical Centre, Raipur.
Dr. Sirohi is a prolific researcher with an h-index of 25, a former Editor-in-Chief of the Indian Journal of Medical and Paediatric Oncology (IJMPO), and a leader in national cancer guideline development through the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). She is deeply committed to cancer care delivery at the grassroots level, health equity in low- and middle-income countries, and the founding vision of the New India Cancer Charity Initiative (NICCI).
